11 Common Problems with Solar Panel Inverter & Their Solutions

A solar panel system is perfect for generating electricity without breaking the bank. That’s because you will use the sun’s light and heat to produce electricity rather than taking electricity from the government systems. There are multiple solar energy system components, and the inverter is one of them.

An inverter helps ensure a steady supply of electricity when there are power outages. That’s because an inverter is responsible for converting direct current into alternating current in solar services. This means that you will be able to use electronic appliances even if the grid power isn’t available.

However, with extensive use, solar panel inverters can become out of order, irrespective of how amazing the solar services are. So, with this article, we are sharing 11 common problems with solar panel inverter, along with their solutions!

1. Error Code E000

This error code appears when there is an internal communication fault in solar services. This means that the information won’t be communicated, so the inverter won’t work. The first solution is to reboot the inverter. For this purpose, you’ve to turn off the inverter and wait for a few minutes before you turn it on. It is an easy way of fixing the communication errors.

However, if rebooting the inverter doesn’t work, you should contact the inverter’s manufacturer. That’s because there might be an internal error that only they can fix.

2. Error Code E001

If this error code appears on the LCD of the inverter, you have to check the parallel CAN cables. These cables are between the inverters, so make sure they are in good condition. That’s because if the cables are damaged, there will be performance issues. In addition, you’ve to ensure that the cables are connected properly and have a secure connection.

Secondly, you should check the placement of a balance resistor. It is important for the proper functionality of the resistor and, eventually, the inverter. If you aren’t sure how to work on this, call for professional solar services.

3. Error Code E008

This error code appears when there is an issue with the parallel CAN. The easiest solution is to reset the inverter. For this purpose, we recommend using the manual that came with the inverter. It will help clear out the temporary faults in CAN cables. Secondly, you should check the safety standard switch. The switch must be in the correct position.

4. Error Code E009

To begin with, you should check out the parallel CAN cables if this error appears after solar services. These cables can be located between the slaves and the master. You’ve to ensure that the cables are connected properly. In addition to this, make sure the cables aren’t damaged. If the cables are damaged, you’ll have to replace them.

Secondly, you should check the placement of balance resistors. They must be in the right position. If you don’t know the placement of resistors, check with an electrician.

Last but not least, you have to verify the setup of the parallel system in solar services or panels. In particular, the parallel system must have a master inverter. If you cannot find one, you will have to reconfigure any other inverters for the master.

5. Error Code E010

This error code shows up when multiple master inverters are configured in the solar energy system. For this reason, you have to check the parallel system. If there are more than two master inverters, you have to remove the extra ones because only one is allowed. If you are worried about what to do with other inverters, we recommend configuring them as slaves.

6. Error Code E011

The error code E011 means that the AC connections between the parallel inverters and solar services are not stable. To fix this, you’ve to check the AC connections. Make sure there are no loose links between the AC connections.

7. Error Code E012

If you want to fix this error in solar services, you have to check the link between the UPS and the inverter’s L (Line) and N (Neutral) ports. If the problem still exists, unplug the UPS connector and get help from the maker, like Growatt, or a technician. You could also look at the inverter documentation to learn more about it.

8. Error Code E013

This means that the UPS power has been reversed in solar services. The first solution is to turn off the inverter and then turn it back on. This may fix the problem with the UPS power.

However, if this doesn’t resolve the issue, get in touch with the manufacturer to get the inverter replaced if there is an internal error. If the error keeps happening or if you need more help with solar inverter problems and answers, you can talk to a professional solar installer or the manufacturer.

9. Error Code E015

This error code means that the parallel phase isn’t normal and needs your attention. First of all, you have to check the AC links between the three-phase parallel systems to make sure they are safe. This is the only possible solution for this error code. However, for more help, you should talk to a manufacturer.

10. Error Code E016

This error code is caused by a fault in the relay. If the relay problems are only temporary, turning off and then back on the inverter might fix them. If the problem keeps happening, get technical help from the maker.

11. Error Code E011

For the most part, this error code appears on the inverter’s screen when the parallel AC is inconsistent. The most reliable solution is to check the AC connection. The AC connections are between parallel inverters, so ensure that there aren’t any loose connections. If you see some loose connections, tighten them up, and the error code will be cleared.

The Bottom Line

The bottom line is that there can be temporary issues with the solar energy inverter. However, as a layman, it might be challenging to understand the cause behind different errors, which is why we shared this guide. If you aren’t experienced enough to work with electricity, it’s better to connect with experts like Solar Company San Diego because they know the ins and outs of solar services.
